Tour completed by 47 Grade 6 & 7 boys from Grey College Primary in Bloemfontein 13 – 21 October 2021. They had 2 travel days and 1 extra ‘chill day at the beach’ beside the following 5 guided days with All Africa Tours.

 

DAY 1: Morning 5,5km coastal hike at Robberg Nature Reserve with beautiful views of Plettenberg Bay. Learn about coastal ‘fynbos’ (Cape Floral Kingdom), early man in the region and coastal marine life – African penguin, Cape Fur Seal, Common and Bottlenose Dolphins, Southern Right and Humped-backed Whales, seagulls and cormorants. This is followed by a visit to Raptor Rescue, a rehabilitation and Awareness Centre for birds of prey. The tour includes flight demonstrations of various species and time to visit the local craft shops in the area.

DAY 2: Morning Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour – 11 ziplines with platforms high up in the canopy of the mighty yellowwood and stinkwood trees that are indigenous to this region. This is followed by a Segway ride through the quaint Storm’s River Village followed by lunch at a restaurant. Afternoon guided tour at Monkeyland Primate Sanctuary, the largest primate sanctuary in Southern Hemisphere, followed by a tour at Birds of Eden, the world’s largest free-flight aviary and bird sanctuary focusing on African birds. Once again time to shop for local souvernirs.

DAY 3: Morning high ropes course at Acrobranch in Wilderness to test agility, spatial awareness and body strength. This is followed by 7km Wilderness quad biking experience through the forests. Afternoon visit an elephant sanctuary for elephant education and conservation. Learn about the plight of elephants in Southern Africa and what is being done to protect these large mammals. Wonderful photo opportunities with these gentle giants.

DAY 4: Full day at Plettenberg Bay – morning Ocean Safari on a high speed boat with 400hp motors, life jackets and heavy duty rain jackets, to spot whales, dolphins, seals followed by an afternoon surfing lesson at Plettenberg Bay central beach and then time to build sand castles, swim or go for a beach walk to enjoy the beautiful views, fresh sea air and unspoilt natural environment.

DAY 5: A day in the Wilderness with Eden Adventures – fitted with life jackets and being accompanied by 2 x qualified river guides, canoeing on the Touw River into Wilderness National Park followed by a short boardwalk hike to waterfalls for a swim and scramble over huge granite boulders. Mid afternoon time spent at Buffels Bay beach, followed by a visit to the Knysna Waterfront for some shopping and last night’s supper at a local restaurant.
